This one goes out to my mom, who took me to see Die Hard With a Vengeance because I was too young to drive, and who also let me watch our tape of the original Die Hard when I was home sick from school one day over what had to be strenuous objections from my father, who was likely worried it would corrupt me (which it did, but in an awesome way). See, in my family, my father forced us to watch Die Hard. Whenever it's on tv, we watch it. We have the special edition dvd. We love John McClane. It's too bad he's been bastardized into some sort of weird everyman. I agree that the entire appeal was the unique set of skills he brought to an extraordinary situation. Oh well.
